Bowel Cancer Awareness Month

News

27th Apr

2013

April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month, organised by Bowel Cancer UK, a charity dedicated to informing the public about one of the most prevalent cancer types in the UK. Their website www.bowelcanceruk.org.uk is an excellent source of information and provides lots of useful information about recognising the symptoms, preventative measures we should all be taking to minimise our risk of developing Bowel Cancer and treatment for patients who have been diagnosed with Bowel Cancer.

Independent Oncology’s consultant, Dr Nick Maisey, specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with Bowel Cancer. He commented “When it is caught at an early stage there is a very high chance of complete cure. If people have any worrying symptoms like blood in their motions or pain when going to the loo, they must see their GP to discuss it. Usually it will be nothing to worry about, but if there is a problem it can be dealt with very effectively.

If you would like to find out more about Bowel Cancer, there are a number of useful free information sheets on the Bowel Cancer UK website http://www.bowelcanceruk.org.uk/about-us/what-we-do/services/bowel-cancer-awareness-materials/
